Your Canada Giant Floor Map Event Request Form

Interested in hosting a Your Canada, Your Canvas mapping event?

Schools and organizations across Canada can request to host an event using the Your Canada Giant Floor Map, an unlabeled map of Canada that participants will collectively fill with places, stories, connections, ideas and perspectives that represent their Canada.

Important space requirements: The Giant Floor Map requires sufficient clear floor space around the map for participants to move safely and comfortably. In addition, we plan to use a drone to capture an overhead image of the completed map. This requires a minimum ceiling/overhead clearance of approximately 6 m for the 8 m × 6 m map and 8 m for the 11 m × 8 m map.

Event Selection: We may not be able to accommodate all event requests. Requests will be reviewed based on map availability, geographic distribution, scheduling, venue requirements and alignment with the goals of the Your Canada, Your Canvas project.

Documentation & Media: If your event is selected, Canadian Geographic Education / Royal Canadian Geographical Society staff will attend to document the event through photography and video. Participants may be photographed or recorded as part of the project's documentation and storytelling. Selected organizers will be provided with the appropriate media release forms and will be responsible for helping ensure that required permissions are obtained from participants and, where applicable, parents/guardians.

Space & Drone Requirements: Before submitting a request, please ensure that your proposed venue can accommodate the selected map size and the requirements for overhead photography. A clear overhead height of approximately 6 m is required for the 8 m × 6 m map and 11 m for the 8 m × 11 m map to allow for the planned drone photography. The final suitability of a venue will be confirmed with Canadian Geographic Education before an event is scheduled.
