Canada is home to approximately 1.4 million people of Ukrainian descent, which is nearly four per cent of Canada’s population. Canada also has the second-largest Ukrainian diaspora in the world. Students will learn about the Ukrainian diaspora in Canada and the connections between Ukraine and Canada by using the map and lesson plan below. They will also learn the answers to the following questions: What push and pull factors influenced Ukrainians to immigrate to Canada? How has the Ukrainian population in Canada changed over time?
