Land. Sovereignty. Climate. Representation. Collaboration. Technology. Activism. Art. Future.

On June 27-29, 2022, the Canada Council for the Arts and the Government of Yukon cohosted the third Arctic Arts Summit in Whitehorse, Yukon. The Summit brought together representatives of Arctic countries and Indigenous Nations of the Circumpolar region who strive to strengthen arts and culture in the North and develop circumpolar cooperation to stimulate collaboration in arts and creative industries.

In collaboration with the Canadian Commission for UNESCO (CCUNESCO) and the Canada Council for the Arts, Canadian Geographic Education is proud to share the following learning resources which encourage youth to consider topics such as activism, Indigenous sovereignty, land, language and technology through an artistic lens. The resources include a wealth of thought-provoking discussion questions, activities that highlight the amazing work of Arctic artists, and links to supporting resources that allow for detailed exploration of life and art in the North.
