The Queen’s Jubilee Classroom Challenge has concluded! Winners will be announced on @CanGeoEdu’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). Sign up for free to become a member of Can Geo Education to stay up to date on our competitions and programs.
In 2022, Queen Elizabeth II became the first monarch to celebrate 70 years of service dedicated to Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Commonwealth. The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is undoubtedly an extraordinary and historical milestone.
Queen Elizabeth II is a supporter and advocate for preservation and renewal in plants and gardens, launching initiatives such as the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy and, more recently, the Queen’s Green Canopy. Can Geo Education is taking the Queen’s love of nature as inspiration and asking Canadian classrooms to head out into their own communities to discover and learn about native plants to win some great prizes. We are giving out 70 prizes to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee!
April 1 – May 31, 2022
How to participate
To be eligible to compete in the Queen’s Jubilee Classroom Challenge, you must be a teacher from a Canadian classroom consisting of three or more students. Any Kindergarten to Grade 12 classroom is eligible to participate. Just follow these three simple steps!
Raise awareness about the importance of native plants by sharing what you learned with us! Share the name of your native plant, one fun fact about it, and a picture or drawing of your plant. By sharing what you learned, you will be entered into the contest draw to win prizes!
3. Take action
You can double your chances of winning a prize by taking an extra step! Submit a second entry with actions you are taking in your classroom, school, or community to support native plants. This can be anything from starting a classroom garden to doing a park clean-up! Provide a photo of your activity or a description of your plan as proof.
Classrooms can enter in one of two ways
1. Social media:
Reply to one of our posts about the Queen’s Jubilee Classroom Challenge on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram by sharing your native plant using the hashtag #GreenJubilee. If you choose to go a step further, submit a second entry with what actions you’re taking to support native plants.
