The Phyllis Arnold Professional Development Award is an annual subsidy that will help Canadian teachers to participate in conferences or professional development courses in geography or social studies.

Background

In 2001, Can Geo Education awarded Phyllis Arnold with the Geographic Literacy Award, which she used, along with a personal donation, to create the Phyllis Arnold Endowment Fund.

Teachers across Canada can apply for a Phyllis Arnold Professional Development Award to facilitate their work in the classroom, school, district, and community. Applications are accepted yearly at the end of the school year from any current teacher in an accredited K-12 school within Canada.

Amounts and Deadlines

Each year, Can Geo Education grants up to two awards ($300 each in personal subsidies) to assist in the participation of geographic or social studies professional development in the current calendar year.

Applications must be received by close of business day (5:00 pm EST) on June 30, 2023. Award winners will be announced by July 28, 2023.
